Building With Earth workshop

Building with earth is easy, fun and cheap, as well as environmentally friendly! Earth structures have many positive qualities; for example a constant level of internal humidity, great versatility for creativity in building style and a unique cosiness.

This hands-on workshop will give you the basics of earth building, ideas to play with and if you already know a bit, then hopefully it will be an impetus for new ideas. Existing structures on-site will be studied (such as an ongoing house project and earth floor), different ways of utilising earth will be examined and finishing touches such as earth plasters will be made, to give practical experience in the qualities of earth as a building material. In addition, traditional baking ovens and simple cooking devices made from earth will be explored.

The workshop will run from 10 am to 5 pm. Light refreshments are included.
